The Olivia Effect

The fashions during Fashion Week were beautiful and inspiring, however it was the street style of fashion muse/celebutant Olivia Palermo that really blew me away. I gathered my favorite looks from Fashion Week off of this fabulous all- about- Olivia website I stumbled upon.

I just had to add these gorgeous shots of Olivia for tibi as well! I am in love with the black pant outfit!

So chic! Bye bye!

Downton to Downtown

As you can tell from the title of this post I am referring to the utterly amazing television drama that is Downton Abbey - if you have not seen it, please abandon computer and rent immediately.

Downton Abbey is a period drama set in England during the years leading up to World War I and post war, centered around the Crawley Family and their staff. Don't let the historical nature of the show turn you off from diving into a world of gossip, sex, love, family, betrayal and last but certainly not least gowns and jewels fit for a queen. Each character has their own unique style and is outfitted from head to toe in jaw dropping costumes in every scene, seriously inspiring.

I have noticed many fashions imitating that of the Crawley Women (and men) this fall and have put together a little collage of some of my favorite pieces. I am looking forward to the chillier months here in California (let's talk about this heat wave!) - until than I will lust after floor length silk gowns, lace gloves, and a finger wave up do a la Lady Mary.

Lastly this is an image I found on The Fashion Court of Kasia Smutniak at theVenice Film Festival - I am in love with  this Valentino dress and it goes along with  the theme....

J.Crew, Who Knew?

Can't seem to get these J.Crew images out of my head, I am very impressed with  their Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear collection. J.Crew has never been on my radar, I have always known they made lovely pieces, but would never run to a shop and purchase..until now. The J.Crew Collection is gorgeous and super stylish, but sadly the prices are very high! I am going to look through my own wardrobe and put together some sassy, American, preppy outfits like the ones below!  Check out the collection here and here!

Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear Fashion Favorites

If you are anything like me, you too have spent countless hours on your computer scouring style.com for the latest and greatest fashion moments from this year's Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear fashion shows.

Below are some of my favorite looks from a few different designers that have made their way onto my desk top and into my dreams. All of the images below are from style.com

I was not overly excited about the Acne collection this year, but these two looks caught my eye because of their vibrant circus like shape and color, I am also a huge fan of the trousers from this entire collection.

The Costume National look below is the epitome of sexy to me, the high slit and draped fabric make this otherwise "dressy" skirt extremely effortless and wearable. Though the top is not my favorite I like the mixture of dressy and casual..and those heels!

The Antonio Berardi collection was very interesting, the unique mixing of colors and sporty fabric gave each design an extra edge and left me wanting more. I love the mix of color and fabric in look #1 and I can never turn down a gorgeous tailored jacket. Look #2 has a soft flowing body that I love in a dress, and the shortened hem makes this look easy, breezy and extremely wearable. Look #3 is something I wouldn't normally gravitate towards, but the mesh athletic fabric gives this geometric dress a new age spin, not to mention I adore the neckline.

I fell in love with the circular patterned white fabric seen all over Karen Walker's designs this collection - it is so fun and looks really retro! To be honest I am mad about the entire look of this runway show, from the messy hair and overgrown fringe, to the casual mens inspired loafers... a winner in my book. These are the kind of outfits you can wear right off the runway!

I normally love all Jenny Packhams dresses, but this collection only had one dress that really stood out to me, this gorgeous polka dot number below. This happens to be my favorite dress from all the shows - I love the simplicity and the body is so flattering and would look good on most body types. I  love a high slit and polka dots are so timeless!

Balenciaga really made a strong impression on me this collection, I love the tailoring and the simple color palette is sleek and strong. There is an androgynous element in this collection that always makes me smile, I am absolutely in love with the middle look below!

What  was your favorite show?

Harlyn

I have a friend, her name is Maria. Maria is an out of this world talented fashion designer and the creative mastermind behind the new up and coming label Harlyn. Harlyn is uptown chic with a downtown edge, it is where sexy meets nerdy and flirty meets professional and everything in between.

I had the honor of working with Maria and the Harlyn team for their first ever look book just a few months ago. Now I am so proud to see the line be launched into what I know will be a very successful career, for not only Maria, but the Harlyn brand as a whole.

Below are some pictures from the look book photo shoot we did this summer, we went for a mod vintage vibe pulling inspiration from the beautiful Lana Del Rey- incorporating side wept cascading waves, perfect skin and a seductive nude/pink lip for look #1. Look #2 was more of a "hot nerd" vibe as Maria called it, this was created by crimping and teasing the hair to oblivion and applying a heavy coat of purple/pink matte lipstick - I love the way it turned out! For more info on products used please leave a comment below! Also please check out the Harlyn website here, and browse Maria's inspiration Tumblr here!

Jumpstart

Summer 2010 was the last time I posted anything on this blog, I think it is time for a change.

Many events have happened since my last post to Ice Cream For Fashion, some small and some life changing. For one I am no longer working in the Fashion Industry, now my days are filled with testing makeup products, thinking about nail polish collections, and choosing the best mascara wand for my new and improved mascara line. Of course fashion is still my love, but I must say the Beauty Industry is just as good...if not better! I am currently working as Creative Director and Brand Manager for Bodyography Professional Cosmetics a wonderful professional mineral based makeup line that has been on the market since the early 90's! Check it out - we have launched some really amazing new products in the past few months.

What else is new? Well I am engaged to to the love of my life, and planning a wedding to be held in my home town of La Jolla in September 2013! So far it has been fun, but the actual planning has yet to begin - I am up for the challenge and looking forward to all things bridal for the next year of my life.

I have decided to jumpstart this blog as a way to express myself and all the cool things I am exposed to living in LA and working in the Beauty world! To be honest I am quite excited! I will be working on my first proper post tonight and look forward to changing the blog a bit and incorporating some new elements that have inspired me over the past few years.

Wish me luck!
